Psalm Chants by Vernon Hoyle
None of the following chants is to be
found in any published collection. I composed the third of these for the choir
of Hatfield Parish Church, South Yorkshire, nearly thirty years ago, since when
it has found its way into the repertoires of a number of other church choirs.
The first two date from 1997 and have been given an airing in several cathedral
services. The fourth is a more recent effort dating from March 23 1999.
Should these chants are of interest to
you please feel at liberty to print them out, duplicate and use them. If you
perform them in church services I would be very interested to know where they
are being used, though no one should feel under any obligation to contact me.
While I give full permission for these
chants to be copied and used in divine worship, as composer and copyright owner
I would be grateful if you would ensure that the customary acknowledgement is
included whenever they are reproduced. Moreover, please note that none of my
chants should be included in any published collection or commercial recording
without my express permission.
Incidentally, Cantica Nova contains
a wealth of previously unpublished chants by sixty-six contemporary composers.
It should be of interest to all lovers of English cathedral music.
